OTHER "GOINGS-ON":
Once again thanks to Vice President Jack Fedigan we will be able to raffle off 4 tickets and a parking pass to a NY Jets game at the new Meadowlands Stadium. The game is scheduled for October 31st at 1:00 PM. The Jets will be playing the Green Bay Packers. There will be a limited number of raffle tickets available for $5.00 each. They will be available at our June 17th meeting and through our October 21st meeting when the drawing will be held.

- The Kevin Barry Club will hold there annual picnic in the park on August 8th, 2010 from noon to dusk at the Town of Washington Park. Food and tea, coffee, and other soft drinks will be provided by the club. As in the past the KBIC is inviting members of the AOH and the Irish Heritage Foundation as guest. There is no charge, but attendees are asked to bring dessert or other dish to share. This will be a lively afternoon of music and great craic. There are swimming facilities available and a covered picnic area. Bring your family and, especially, the children. Although no reservations are required, it would be helpful to let them know if you plan to attend. Please let Matt Fitzgerald know by July 31st at irishrm@juno.com or 845-454-5308.
- Brother Jim Sweeney has reached out to the Greater Southern Dutchess Chamber of Commerce (GSDCC) who supports the House of Faith/House of Hope. This facility is a domestic violence shelter with 14 beds in Southern Dutchess New York and provides 24 hour assistance, counseling and crisis intervention. The mission of the facility is to eliminate sexual assault and domestic violence through sensitive prevention, intervention, and treatment. We believe "There is Hope" for every person.
Please consider bringing an item listed below to our 5/20 meeting that Jim can drop off on behalf of the AOH.

Adopt-A-Highway: The AOH has adopted a 2 mile stretch of Route 9D from mile marker 9D/3022/8023 - 9D/3022/8042. This stretch of road spans the town's of Fishkill and Wappingers just north of the Castle Point Veteran's Hospital. This 2 mile stretch of road will be cleaned and maintained by the AOH with litter clean-up commencing 4 times per year beginning in the April-May time frame.

Many thanks to Jim Whalen and his team for maintaining our Irish Cottage (The smoke was attention getting). The Dutchess County AOH won 1st Place for Best Float in the 2010 Parade!!!! Our new trophy will be placed next to our 2009 1st Place for Best Float trophy and our 2005 2nd place trophy which was also for Best Float.

On OCTOBER 5th In support of Respect Life month, our annual baby shower for the mothers and babies of Good Counsel Home was held at the Wappinger Falls Knights of Columbus Hall.
